Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali earned US$77.31 million from the exports of textile and textile products (TPT) in the first 8 months of the year, down 5.98% from the same period last year, the Bali Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said.
Head of the regional BPS office Panasunan Siregar said here on Thursday the export volume shrank 6.99 percent to 50.5 million pieces in the first 8 months of this year from 54.29 million pieces in the same period in 2013.
TPT is one of six export commodities among products of cottage industries in Bali.
Five other such export commodities are canned fish, components of finished houses, plastic handicraft , footwear and bags, Siregar said.
Non knitted finished wear products are high in demand in the United States , Australia and Britain, he said.
Non knitted finished wear has also been exported to other countries including Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Netherlands, France and Brazil. (WDY)
