Palembang (Antara Bali) - State-owned fertilizer producer PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja (Pusri) in Palembang provides 140,790 tons of urea fertilizer in stock for its working areas of nine provinces in July this year.
"In addition, the company also keeps in stock 52,414 tons of urea fertilizer in its factory," the company's chief spokesman Sulfa Ganie said here on Friday.
With the stocks, the company guarantees supply of urea fertilizer for the nine provinces in Western Indonesia including South Sumatra, Lampung, Jambi, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung, Central Java, Banten, Jakarta, and Yogyakarta, Sulfa said.
The government has a number of fertilizer companies each with different working areas in the country.
Sulfa said PT Pupuk Sriwijaya would continue to seek to keep adequate stocks of fertilizer to contribute to the national food security program and to cut dependence on imports for food.
He said with the stock, there was no cause for concern among farmers about possible shortage of fertilizer supply in the nine provinces this year.
He said all four factories of PT Pusri in Palembang run well while work is underway to build a new production unit under revitalization program named Pusri II-B in the company's complex. (*/DWA)
