"Sincerely I thank the party's cadres gathering in this room as well as those throughout the country, because since our extraordinary congress in Bali, we have become more unified and united. My gratitude to the cadres because all of them have been willing to make improvement and we have seen the results," Yudhoyono said.
He reiterated what he had promised during the Bali congress that although he is the party's chairman, we will always prioritize his duties as the Indonesian president.
Other party's positions that he had held before, have been given to the party's capable cadres, he added.
He cited as examples that the Democratic Party's honorary council chairman is now Amir Syamsuddin, the advisory chairman is EE Mangindaan, and the executive chairman is Syarif Hasan.
Yudhoyono expressed his hope that the party could run and function properly. "I am still concentrating on the Indonesian people, while our party must move forward to greet the success in the future," he added.
