Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian scientist Dr Warsito P Taruno has published his technological finding, brain activity scanner, at a recent International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging held by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in San Francisco, the United States.
"The instrument is named 4D Brain Activity Scanner based on Electrical Capacitance Volume Tomography (ECVT)," said Mu'arif, the spokesman of the Indonesian Science and Technology Community (MITI).
The symposium held from April 7-11 was an annual event to publish the latest technology in medical and diagnostic field, Mu'arif told Antara news agency here on Friday.
Warsito P Taruno, a researcher, who won his doctorate at the University of Shizuoka in Japan, is the chairman of MITI, he said.
He quoted Warsito as saying that ECVT is used to gauge electrical signals produced from human brain activities and to reconstruct volumetric image from brain activities.
"This is the first technology in the world that could scan human brain activities with AD and real time method that could be used to help in neuroscience study and to catch any abnormality in human brain because of various troubles such as epilepsy and Alzheimer," he said. (*/DWA)
