Bandarlampung (Antara Bali) - The Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency (BMKG) has issued a tsunami warning for a number of provinces in Sumatra due to a 8.9 earthquake in Aceh at around 3pm on Wednesday.

Through its geophysics station in Kotabumi, North Lampung, in the Sumatran province of Lampung the BMKG issued the warning for Bengkulu, Lampung, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, West Sumatra and North Sumatra provinces.

BMKG reported a 8.9 magnitude quake occured at 15.36.29 hours at 2.31 degrees North Latitude and 92.67 degrees East Longitude at a depth of only around 10 kilometers.(IGT/T007)
