Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali has been named as one of the top eight participants in the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) on March 7-11 in Messe, Berlin.
Bali bested tens of exhibitors from all over the world to reach one of the top eight participants, chief of the Bali chapter of the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) Ida Bagus Ngurah Wijaya said on Monday.
The Balinese pavilion at the expo had attracted many visitors since the expo's opening on March 7, he said.
The event brought together 44 participants from all over the world.
Wijaya said the Balinese pavilion ranked eighth after those from Korea, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and India.
That the Balinese pavilion was named as one of the top eight participants served as the highest award, Jurgen Weischer, president of the event's organizing committee, said.
"This is not only because the Balinese pavilion which only measured 55 sq meters looked smaller than those of Malaysia and Thailand which had an area of 2,000 sq meter but also because it was crowded by visitors," he said.
He said the Balinese pavilion had been crowded by visitors since the first day of the event on March 7.(*/T007)
