Jakarta (Antara Bali) - State oil company PT Pertamina (Persero) is anticipating subsidized fuel oil hoarding on the occasion of the upcoming fuel oil price hikes on April 1, 2012.
Pertamina's spokesman Harun said in Jakarta Sunday he had coordinated with the Upstream Oil and Gas Coordinating company (BPH Migas), the police and regional administrations to prevent hoarding of subsidized fuel oils.
"Hoarding not only harms subsidized fuel oil consumers, but is also risky to the safety of the environment because fuel oil is inflammable," he said.
He said Pertamina has also called on the Association of National Oil and Gas Entrepreneurs (Hiswana Migas) as owners of public fuel oil filling stations (SPBU) to tighten the channeling and distribution of subsidized fuel oil, including forbidding the sale of subsidized fuel oil by using jerry cans, except by people living far from the filling stations and having a written recommendation of the police and local administrations.
"While the implementation of the regulation often has its obstacles and risks facing the SPBU operators, coordination with the police is necessary," he said.(IGT)
