Bali Customs Office ready with personnel at Ngurah Rai Airport

Denpasar (Antaranews Bali) - The Bali office of the Customs and Excise Directorate General said it has prepared 370 officers in charge of customs examination of the delegates to and other invitees to attend the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank at the Bali`s International Port of Ngurah Rai.

"The preparation of big personnel of customs officers is needed as around 31,000 people are expected to come to Bali for the the IMF-WB meeting," head of the regional office of the Customs and Excise Directorate General Syarif Hidayat said here on Saturday.

The IMF-WB annual meeting is to take pace in Nusa Dua from October 8 to 14 attended by IMF and WB delegates, finance minister and Central Bank leaders from 189 countries, observers, parliamentarians and journalists.

Many of the delegates are also expected to bring some member of their families making use of the occasion for holidaying in Bali.

The customs officers have been all ready to work in turn in three shifts for 24 hours every day to check the visitors and their luggage.

"The personnel that include 170 customs officers from Jakarta and other customs areas have been trained before the meeting takes place," Syarif said.

They will work together with the National Committee members on duty at the airport, he added.

He said a number of IMF and Wold Bank officials already came to Bali several days before including executive heads and executive secretary of IMF-WB.

Earlier, General Manager of the International Airport of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Yanus Suprayogi said the airport and its immigration office are ready to welcome all delegates.

Seven immigration counters have been prepared at the International Arrival Terminal including one specially for VIP and VVIP. (WDY)
