Denpasar (Antaranews Bali) - The Denpasar city administration has prepared some natural attractions for delegates of the International Monetary Fund-World Bank (IMF-WB) Annual Meeting to be held in Nusa Dua, Bali, in October 2018.
Denpasar Mayor Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra stated here on Friday that the city administration had prepared some natural attractions to be explored by participants of the IMF-WB Annual Meeting.
"One of the attractions we have prepared is Bindu River in East Denpasar District," he remarked.
He added that the Denpasar city administration was ready to welcome the IMF-WB delegations, as it was also an honor for the people.
"Bindu River has an extraordinary view, so the locals always keep the environment clean and fresh. Moreover, Bindu River is a public space, with a variety of innovations," he noted.
Furthermore, Mantra stated that in addition to Bindu River, the city administration had prepared a visit to the digital village of Dangin Puri Kangin.
"The people will certainly be happy to receive a visit from an international delegation, as this is part of the world history," he noted.
Meanwhile, Denpasar City Secretary Anak Agung Ngurah Rai Iswara remarked that Denpasar should be a good host and extend a warm, friendly welcome.
Head of the Dangin Puri Kangin Administration I Gusti Ngurah Putrawan stated that the villagers were pleased to welcome the IMF-WB delegation.
"We are also happy to be chosen as a place to be visited by the delegations. Of course, this is a matter of pride as well as encourages us to continue to learn and innovate for the progress of the village," he stated.
The IMF-WB Annual Meetings is one of the largest and influential events on finance and economy that brings together central bank governors and finance ministers from 189 countries.
The National Organizing Committee for the IMF-WB annual meeting 2018 has confirmed some 19,800 participants from 189 countries comprising 5,050 official delegates, including 50 domestic delegates, and 14,750 non-delegates, including 1,750 Indonesians.
The official delegates will include finance ministers and central bank leaders of the participating countries and IMF and WB delegates.
The non-delegates will include parliamentarians, observers, and journalists. Several delegates are also expected to arrive with members of their families. They will stay in Bali for at least nine days, including one day before and after the end of the meeting.
The delegates are also expected to spend more days in Indonesia, as visits have already been arranged to several major tourist destinations in the country.
A new destination to visit is the 121-meter-high statue of Hindu God Wisnu, the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) in the village of Ungasan, Badung District, the work of sculptor Nyoman Nuarta. Delegates to the IMF-WB annual meeting are scheduled to have a gala dinner at the GWK Cultural Park, which is not far from Denpasar.
Other tourist attractions in Bali include the Ubud monkey forests, 23 kilometers north of the capital city.
Just across the narrow Lombok Strait east of Bali, the delegates are expected to enjoy a visit to the sparkling white sandy beach of Mandalika, which is one of the 10 tourist destinations on the national development priority list. (WDY)
