US, Singapore Praise Indonesian Navy`s Performance

Tanjungpinang (Antara Bali) - The United States and Singapores navies have praised the Western Fleet Quick Response (WFQR) team of the Indonesian Navy for its efforts to minimize crimes in Malacca Strait, one of the worlds busiest shipping lanes.

"Yesterday, I was invited by the Singapore naval chief of staff. He thanked me very much for the performance of the WFQR of Lantamal IV ( main naval base)," Commander of the Western Indonesian Fleet Command, Rear Admiral Aan Kurnia said at the Main Naval Base IV Station in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands province, on Friday (March 31).

In a seminar held in Hawaii, the United States also lauded the Indonesian Navy for its efforts to minimize crimes in international waters, he said.

With regards to the achievement, he has ordered 12 naval bases in the western part of Indonesia, including a naval base IV to improve the performance of their WQFR teams.

"We, the Navy, remain committed. The Indonesian Western Fleet Command will always uphold the law at sea. We never compromise any crime when it comes to upholding the law."

The commander of the western Indonesian fleet command also lauded the disclosure of 28 criminal cases in the waters of Riau Islands.

"Today, I checked the ships seized by the WFQR team of the Main Naval Base IV Tanjungpinang. The result is extraordinary and I appreciated it," he said. (WDY)
