Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Bank Indonesia (BI) is set to team up with other central banks and global financial institutions to develop a learning and research institute called "BI Institute".
"We will cooperate with noted central banks such as Bank of England and Federal Reserve of New York, to give understanding of global economy, among others" chief of BI Institute Sugeng during the inauguration of the institute here on Monday.
The establishment of BI Institute is aimed at improving the competence of human resources particularly in the economic field, he said.
Each country must have competent human resources due to the increasingly formidable challenges of the global economic dynamics, he said.
For its part, to give comprehensive understanding of global economy, BI Institute will team up with several domestic and international institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the National Resilience Institute (Lemhanas), the University of Indonesia (UI), the bandung-based Institute of Technology (ITB) and the Gadjah Mada University (UGM), he said.
BI Governor Agus Martowardojo said BI Institute will give opportunities not only to BI employees but also non-BI employees to learn the global economy.
The main activities of BI Institute will cover learning, research, partnership and public exposure. (WDY)
