Mataram (Antara Bali) - A number of 14 yachts from various countries grouped in the World Cruising Club, called at Lombok's Gili Gede on its way to Cape Town, South Africa.

Managing Director  of World Cruising Club Andrew Bishop, said  in West Lombok on Monday the group visited  Gili Gede  at the invitation of PT Marine Del Rey, which plans to build  Marina Lombok around in the small island.

"We are from Darwin, Australia, heading  to Gili Gede. We greatly enjoyed the visit seeing the exotic natural beauty  and hospitality of the local people,"  Bishop said.

The members of the World Cruising Club include yachts  from  Australia, Britain, Italy, the United States  and other European countries  coordinated by Andrew Bishop.

Taking part inf the pleasure trip round the world are businessmen, company workers and pensioners. The took family members for sightseeing at small islands in various countries such as the island of  Gili Gede, West Lombok.

Andrew Bishop said the group already visited small islands in various other countries, but Gili Gede is "special.".

The  water in the Gili Gede bay is exotic around hilly terrain  and the local people are generous,he said.

"Though far from being up to the standard  of  a port of call for  cruising yachts, the generosity of the people and the natural beauty  would attract visitors to come again," he said, adding  "Gili Gede is a very special place in Indonesia."

Yacht tourists  enjoy natural beauty with simple facility more  than modernity, he said.

He said he hoped to come back to the island in 2016  with  the 50 members of the club  after the island finished  building the  Lombok Marina.

"With the marina , services are expected to be  up to standard  and convenient for visitors," he said.

He promised to help promote the Gili Gede tourist island among the world's Yacht community. (WDY)
