Xiamen (Antaranews Bali) - Huaqiao University of Fujian Province in China to boost ties between Indonesia and China through culture and education cooperation to strengthen people to people connections as well as bilateral relations and development of maritime silk road.
     
"We developed Center for Indonesian studies two years ago to support relations of the two countries," Director of Center for Indonesian Studies Huaqiao University Chen Tsung-Yuan said here on Thursday.
     
During a meeting with some journalists from Bali, Chen said to meet the needs of China's foreign policy and international strategy in the new era, the center studies of Indonesia emphasized on fostering the comprehensive research and advancing the development of discipline. 
     
He encouraged the increasing resources engaged in the study of Indonesian politics, economy, security, society and culture as well as on bilateral relations between China and Indonesia. 
     
The center also provided intellectual supports to the construction of maritime silk road by assisting government, enterprises and other organizations that have economic and trade relations with Indonesia. 
     
Meanwhile Director of Public Relations of Huaqiao University Li Hui added that the campus attracted thousands of international students along "the Belt and the Road" nations each year including those from Indonesia.
     
He said there were 312 Indonesian students studied in Huaqiao University from various disciplines, making it as the biggest international students recorded in the campus. 
     
Due to that number, the associations of Indonesian students in China held a cultural festival in Huaqiao University, 27-29 April 2018 to promote culture as well as to strengthen cooperation between the two countries. (Dwa)
