Surabaya (Antara Bali) - A cargo ship, MV Sunny Rose, caught fire at the Tanjung Perak port here on Wednesday morning, East Java water police spokesman Senior Commissioner Agus Duta said.
He stated that the fire damaged some parts of the ship, owned by PT SPIL, but there were no fatalities in the incident.
"The fire was brought under control by 6.30 am and there were no fatalities," Agus said, adding that the water police officials had been sent to the location to investigate.
With regard to where the fire started, Agus said he was waiting for the outcome of the investigation by the water police officials.
"Although the fire has been extinguished, we have to remain alert," he added.
Meanwhile, Tanjung Perak Port officer Chris P. Wanda said the inquiry into the origin of the fire was under way.(IGT/T007)
