Banda Aceh (Antara Bali) - Rescuers team suspended their search for the sinking Artika cargo vessel "Storm" in Sabang waters, Aceh province on Friday morning at 1:35 am.
The Indonesian Community Radio Networks (RAPI) of Banda Aceh chapter Chairman TAF Haikal said, here Friday, that a team consisting of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Air and Sea Police, and volunteers had suspended their search for Artika cargo vessel and the missing 10 crew members.
"The information we receive from all teams who have combed the waters of Sabang-Pidie-Krueng Raya has returned to Balohan city in Sabang and the search willbe resumed at 07.00 am," Haikal said.
Artika cargo vessel that was carrying 250 tons of rice and 2 tons of sugar was reported to have sunk at 17.00 pm local time with 10 men on board of the ill-fated cargo ship.
The 256 gross tonnage Cargo ship "KM Storm" was expected to have arrived in the destination port of Sabang with 250 tons of rice and 2 tons of sugar from Thailand. "Before the loss of contact, the crew members had time to communicate with the seaport head at around 16:30 pm," he said.
Last phone contact between the cargo vessel's crew member and the port head was made at 16:30 pm, and lost contact last at 17.00 pm.(IGT)
