Pekanbaru (Antara Bali) - Dozens of passengers survived from "Tenggiri Express 07" speedboat that caught fire at Indragiri Hilir District, Riau Province on Saturday.
"The incident occurred when the speedboat was anchoring at Guntung River of Kateman Sub-district, Indragiri Hilir district, Riau province," Indragiri Hilir Police Precinct chief, Adjunct Senior Commissioner, Dedi Rahman Dayan said here on Sunday.
According to him, the speed boat caught fire when dozens of passengers embarked on the ill-fated boat.
"All passengers survived. But part of their luggages were burned, and an estimate of material losses reach Rp1.5 billion," Dayan said, adding that the speedboat departed from Batam city in Riau Islands province.
Upon its arrival at the waters of Indragiri Hilir, the speed boat then directly received passengers for the Riau Islands destination.
"The boat skipper, Muslimin said that the boat has just refueled at a gasoline refilling station near the passenger dock," Dayan disclosed. (*/DWA)
