Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The rupiah appreciation over the past two weeks was halted losing 16 points in the inter-bank transaction on Friday morning
The Indonesian currency traded at the level of 13,069 per U.S. dollar weakening from the previous level of 13,053 partly on negative regional sentiment.
The market players were watching developments of Chinese gross domestic products which has continued to be on the decline lately, analysts said.
In addition , Bank Indonesia did not like the rupiah to rise too fast, Rangga Cipta, an economist from Samuel Sekuritas, said, adding rupiah has gained faster than most other currencies in this region.
"The condition caused a slight decline in the rupiah value against the U.S. dollar," Rangga said.
However, stable oil price still brought about positive sentiments that the decline was only limited, he said.
Analyst of Platon Niaga Berjangka Lukman Leong said the tax amnesty policy still left positive sentiment in the country reducing the pressure on rupiah. (WDY)
