The 23 bodies were being kept at the hospital's cold storage and the DVI team was working hard to collect extra data, spokesman of the East Java provincial police Snr. Comsr. Awi Setiyono said here on Thursday.
"The team is working to collect extra ante mortem and post mortem data as most of the bodies are not in good condition," he said.
He said the team currently relied on DNA data from the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.
"Hopefully, we could see DNA data from the National Police Headquarters tomorrow so the DVI team of the East Java provincial police could identify the remaining bodies at the Bhayangkara hospital," he said.
On Wednesday (Feb 11), the team announced they had identified three more bodies of passengers of the crashed AirAsia flight QZ8501. They were Chi Man Choi of Britain, and Anna Widyawati and Natalina Wuntarjo of Indonesia).
So far, the team has identified 78 bodies of 101 passengers of the ill-fated plane, while 23 more bodies are being identified at the hospital. (WDY)
