Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The black box of the ill-fated AirAsia flight QZ8501 has been detected and will be lifted on Monday, according to Tonny Budiono, the spokesman of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation.
He remarked in a written statement here on Monday that the black box has been detected by KN Jadayat, the ship belonging to the Transportation Ministry's Directorate General of Sea Transportation, which joined the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) team in the search for the flight recorder.
In the written statement, Budiono noted that KN Jadayat has detected the flight recorder at a depth of 30 to 32 meters under the sea.
He remarked that the Indonesian Navy's team of divers on board the KN Jadayat vessel has placed a "marker buoy" at the location where the flight recorder has been detected.
He revealed that assisted by the team of divers from Basarnas, divers from the Navy, and a team from the National Committee for Transportation Safety (KNKT), KN Jadayat was equipped with a black box detector or pinger locator from the Singapore Marine and Port Authority.
Furthermore, Budiono stated that on Monday, the divers will attempt to lift the black box, which was lodged under the debris of the fuselage. (WDY)
