Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali, nicknamed "Heavenly Island" by the  international community, could bring 10,000-16,000 foreign tourists per year like neighboring Singapore.

"It's not a problem if we're imitating the neighbor positively, Singapore has been visited by foreign tourists as it guaranteed safety," Ketut Wija, Asistant II on Economy and Welfare of Bali Provincial Administration, said in Denpasar, Wednesday.

Traveling members of the international community felt safe when  there, no wonder that Singapore has been visited by so many tourists.

Therefore  Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika wanted Bali to apply the international security standard so that  domestic and foreigners  feel  comfort and safe, he said.

He explained that geographically, Bali is much better than Singapore, especially in view of its white and  sandy beaches, valleys, cliffs, rivers, lakes, rice fields and mountains that would attract tourists.

"High-value art handicrafts, Balinese people's  art and customs, including Ngaben ceremony (cremation), the only kind in the  world,  also became attraction for foreign tourists," he said.

Ketut Wija said Bali achieved as the "Best Leisure Destination in Asia and the Pasific in 2010" by the famous tourism magazine in Hong Kong, Business Travelers Asia Pacific, should be able to manage itself properly to provide more tourists.

Components of tourism and the government need to work together in creating more conducive conditions to improve services so that tourists stay longer and spend their money more during the vacation.

"In order to draw 10,000 foreign tourists, like Singapore, Bali had to work hard especially in security issues so tourists who stayed are secured in Bali," said Wija.(*)
