Beijing (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, is slated to observe China's Tianjin seaport and power plant on Sunday afternoon.
The President will make the observation of the facilities amid his activities attending the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Beijing.
"In essence, (the President) will observe the integrity between the power plant and the seaport," Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto said here on Sunday.
He said that the facilities were in line with President Jokowi's development priorities, namely maritime, marine 'toll road', infrastructure, railways, food and energy.
Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi said the President in his trip to Tianjin will use a fast train with a distance coverage of about 30 minutes.
Tianjin is one of the four cities with a provincial level apart from Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing.
With a population of 14,1 million based on data in 2012, Tianjin has main industries, among others, petrochemical, textile, automobile and iron industries.
Tianjin seaport is the largest one in China's northern region and constitutes the important maritime gate to Beijing.
With a width of 121 sq km, Tianjin port is the largest man-made-port in Beijing.
In the meantime, Tianjin Power plant is a coal-fired power generator with a capacity of 2000 megawatts. It began operations in 2009. The power plant is the main electricity source of Tiajin, particularly the Binhai New Area.
President Joko Widodo left for Beijing at 9 a.m. local time on Saturday to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in China.
This is the first overseas trip for Jokowi, as President Joko Widodo is popularly called, since he was sworn in as Indonesia's seventh president on October 20, 2014, replacing Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjojanto said on Friday that President Jokowi will present his views on infrastructure development in the Asian region at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Beijing next week.
"At the APEC meeting, Jokowi will talk about infrastructure development in Asia, which is a joint program between China and 10 ASEAN member countries," Andi stated on Friday.
"The President will specifically integrate Indonesia's concept of the world maritime axis with China's concept of a New Silk Road in the 21st Century," the cabinet secretary noted.
Andi explained that besides putting forward his idea for infrastructure development, Jokowi will also meet with a number of heads of state and heads of government.
"The President will likely have bilateral meetings with the Russian President and US President. He will also meet with China's President and Prime Minister. He has plans to visit the Chinese industrial zone in Tianjin," Andi revealed.
After the APEC Summit, Jokowi will attend the ASEAN Summit in Myanmar, where a series of meetings, such as those from ASEAN and its partners and the East Asia Summit will be held.
"Jokowi will explain more elaborately the doctrine of Indonesia's new foreign policy. He will use the East Asia Summit as an opportunity to explain it," he asserted.
Jokowi will next attend the G-20 Summit in Brisbane, Australia, where he will meet the Australian Prime Minister and the Spanish Prime Minister.
During the G-20 Summit, Jokowi will talk about the global economic situation and Indonesia's hope for cooperation with G-20 countries to overcome unfavorable global economic conditions, particularly economic challenges in 2015.
The President, accompanied by First Lady Mme Iriana and his entourage left for Beijing on Saturday and will return on Sunday, November 16, 2014. (MFD)
