Kuta, Bali, July (Antara Bali) - Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika has asked Transportation Ministry and other related ministries to speed up the feasibility study of the 12-km toll road on the resort island.
"I have discussed it with the state enterprises minister to help communicate it with the related ministries to speed up the toll road`s feasibility study," the governor said here on Wednesday.
He noted that the feasibility study should be sped up in order that the tall road be inaugurated on August 14, 2013 in conjunction with the anniversary of Bali province.
The governor said the toll road would be handed by the contractor to the provincial government on July 29, but the feasibility study would take at least and consequently the inauguration could possibly not on August 14.
"Therefore we have asked the related ministries to start the feasibility study henceforth so that the toll road can be inaugurated on time," the governor said.
Meanwhile, Bali branch of toll road management company PT Jasamarga President Director Akhmad Tito Karim said he has yet to know for sure when the toll road would be inaugurated.
"The time to inaugurate the toll road depend on the government, and the feasibility study can be sped up but it will take a month to do so," Akhmad said.
According to him, the construction of the toll road, linking Benoa-Ngurah Rai-Nusa Dua used environmentally-friendly method,
"We use environmentally-friendly method in constructing this toll road to reduce environmental damage of the waters around Benoa Bay," Akhmad said here on Wednesday.
He said Public Works Ministry and Transportation Ministry were scheduled to make feasibility study on July 25, 2013 about the operation of the freeway.
"After the feasibility study is over, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will inaugurate the road on August 14 in conjunction with the anniversary of Bali provincial government," he said. (LHS)
