"The Jakarta Marathon will attract many visitors as the event will be supported by the tourism elements in Indonesia, especially in Jakarta," said Vice Minister of Tourism and Economic Creative Sapta Nirwandar at the Jakarta Marathon 2013 launching event here on Monday.
Nirwandar said the Jakarta Marathon 2013 which is organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Economic Creative and supported by Jakarta provincial Government and Youth and Sport Affairs Ministry, was expected to be participated in by either runners or tourists from 40 countries.
"I believe that the Jakarta Marathon 2013 could be competed with the same event in other countries, like Chicago (US) and Paris (France)," he said.
The Jakarta Marathon 2013 will be held to mark the 486th anniversary of Jakarta as well as to show the beauty of Indonesia.
"All this time, Jakarta only can be remembered with its flood. But, through the Jakarta Marathon, we will make it to be remembered as a world class tourist destination," he said. (*/DWA)
