RI To Participate In Puppet Festival

Solo, C Java (Antara Bali) - Indonesia will participate in the International Puppet Festival in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from February 21 to 24.

"We are expecting many people to participate in the International Puppet Festival, which will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand. A number of puppets from Asia will be showcased from February 21 to 24," said Nuri Aryati, who is Mugidance's Programme Director, on Monday.

Indonesia will showcase shadowgraphs and puppets known as "Dewa Ruci".

Mugiyono Kasido, an Indonesian choreographer, will be in-charge of the performances. Several artists from South Korea will be attending this event, she said.

According to her, this event had been organised in 2011 and 2012.Mugiyono said the event will not only showcase puppets but also several dances.

Several Indonesian artists who are supporting this event are Dedek Wahyudi, Peni Candrarini and Marvel Gracia, the youngest child of Mugiyono, who goes to a kindergarten. (*/DWA/T007)
