Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The ASEAN Documentary Creative Industry forum has expressed its readiness to compete globally in creating the comprehensive common market to introduce the documentary films and photography in South East Asian region, the forum initiator has said.
"This is the agreement reached by participants of the ASEAN Documentary Workshop dubbed "Screen Below The Wind" conducted in Bali provincial village of Ubud, on November 16-18 this year, the forum initiator Iwan Setiawan said here on Sunday.
According to him, the forum is aimed at creating the market as well as to hone talents of creators in effort to attract the international attention.
The film and documentary makers from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia deemed necessary regarding such beneficial cooperation.
Iwan believed that the documentary works produced by the artists in the ASEAN region can compete globally because every country in the grouping has the unique and interesting history and culture. "Moreover, each country in the region has a wealth and exotic natural beauty," he disclosed.
Meanwhile, the "Screen Below The Wind" program director Dian Herdiyani said currently cost needed to produce the documentary work is not that expensive as about ten years ago.
Herdiyani said further that some documentary film makers, photographers, producers, film schools, television stations including stakeholders are not yet confident that the South East Asian region has attraction to the international community.
The ASEAN groups Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.(*/M038)
