Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Head Firli Bahuri expects the Second G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) Meeting to produce a policy on increasing audit's role in eradicating corruption to be discussed at the G20 Summit.
While delivering his keynote speech at the Opening of the 2nd Round of ACWG here on Tuesday, Bahuri emphasized that increasing the role of audit in eradicating corruption was one of the priority issues proposed by Indonesia to be discussed at the high-level principle (HLP) stage by delegations of G20 member countries at the 1st Round of ACWG in Jakarta.
Hence, he expressed optimism that the delegates attending the meeting would agree on the principles on increasing the role of audit in eradicating corruption, which will be summarized in a binding policy document for G20 member countries.
"I really hope that at the end of this meeting, we can agree on a discussion regarding the principles of HLP and submit the document as a form of our collective work to the leaders of G20 member countries," he stated.
ACWG is part of the G20 working group that discusses four priority issues comprising increasing the role of audit in eradicating corruption, public participation and anti-corruption education, regulatory framework and supervision of the role of the legal profession in money laundering from corruption, and eradicating corruption in the renewable energy sector proposed by Indonesia that was represented by the KPK.

ACWG has been held twice, with the second meeting that took place in Badung, Bali, on July 5-8, 2022.
The second round of ACWG began with a meeting discussing the issue of increasing the role of audit, especially regarding the principles that will be summarized in the policy document.
Two other issues -- public participation and anti-corruption education -- as well as the regulatory framework for supervision of the legal profession for money laundering offenses have not been included in the discussion on HLP principles. Indonesia proposed these two issues to be summarized in a compendium or summary containing the best practices of G20 countries.
The issue of preventing corruption in the renewable energy sector has not been included in the HLP discussion since it did not receive support from majority of the G20 delegates. Discussions related to this issue will be summarized as background notes to be used as a reference for G20 members in future meetings.
The second round of ACWG was attended physically by G20 delegates from nine countries and G20 delegates from 11 countries that attended virtually.
