Beijing (Antara Bali) - A 4.7 meter long billboard displaying the poster of Garuda Indonesia has been inaugurated at the Indonesian embassy in this Chinese capital city to promote the country and the nation's flag carrier.
The poster inaugurated on Sunday by Imron Cotan, the Indonesian ambassador for China and Mongolia, was the first displayed at an Indonesian embassy abroad.
"Of all Indonesian embassies abroad only the Beijing embassy has displayed such poster in a bid to promote Indonesia and the nation's flag carrier," Imron Cotan .
It was part of the steps taken by the government to meet the target of attracting 1 million Chinese tourists to Indonesia per year, he said.
The number of Chinese visitors to Indonesia has continued to rise over the past several years,he said, citing in 2010, there were only 200,000 Chinese visiting Indonesia but in 2011, the number almost quadrupled to 775,000.
Garuda President Emirsyah Satar, who was present at the ceremony said as a state company, the airline would support all policies of the government including promoting the country's tourism.(IGT)
