Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The Denpasar provincial government needs more dump trucks for its sanitary department to efficiently dispose of the city's trash.
"We actually need 90 trucks for optimal cleaning, but the fact is we only have 35 vehicles that can be used feasibly," Denpasar Park and Sanitary Department officer Dewa Anom Sayoga said here on Monday.
He stated that Kota Denpasar produced about 2,700 cubic metres of waste per day on average, so the cleaning staff were overworked because of the limited number of dump trucks.
"We determined the number [of trucks required] based on the volume of waste in the landfills at Suwung, Denpasar. Every day, the drivers have to go back and forth four times because of the limited number of trucks," Dewa explained.
He noted that 12 out of the 35 trucks were provided by the Bali government.
"The local government plans to add 10 more dump trucks, which will be bought by using the regional budget of Kota Denpasar," Dewa said.(IGT)
