Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika has asked local women to be smart in utilizing every opportunity for their self-development.
Speaking at a function to observe the 83rd Mothers' Day here on Thursday, the governor said, "There is no substantive difference between men and women in Bali to achieve their goals in life."
According to Pastika, Balinese women had an outstanding position in the community because almost all of them were involved in every field of life, including politics, government, entrepreneurship, non-governmental organizations.
"Now is the time for the women of Bali to seize all existing good opportunities for advancement in all fields of life without abandoning their basic nature as women," the governor said.
Meanwhile, Woman's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar at a similar occasion in Jakarta on Thursday said Mothers' Day was a momentum to enhance the role Indonesian women.
Linda said this year's Mothers' Day, themed "The Role of Women and Men in Building Economic Resilience Towards National Welfare", was relevant to the real conditions being faced by the community that needed common role and struggle to build economic resilience, especially the economy of family.
"Good economy - supported by adequate infrastructure and facility, education and health - is the key to a harmonious and prosperous family," Linda said.(**)
