Nusa Dua (Antaranews Bali) - Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said Canggu in Bali`s Badung District has become a top favourite destination among tourists was and now known as "digital nomadic" around the world.
"The term `digital nomadic` is for the people who relax and work online at the same time," Yahya told a national meeting of Tourism Ministry I at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) on Friday.
Arief further said Canggu became a hit destination because of its quiet ambience and easy accessibility. Moreover, the attractiveness of the waves along Canggu Beach is also considered ideal for first-time surfers.
He is optimistic Indonesia can attract more foreign tourists to Canggu, especially since visitors of "digital nomadic" are "backpacker" tourists who are one of the three main kinds of modern day travel trend-setters.
There are also the "glampacker" or millennial tourists, who explore viral destinations and share their experiences on social media, and "luxpacker" who rate luxurious facilities.
"There are around 45 million potential nomadic tourists," he said.
Arief further said "nomadic tourism" or tourism with moving accommodation equipped with adequate facilities is expected to boost interest in Indonesia.
The tourism concept will be temporarily focused on 10 destinations of "Bali Baru" by utilising four destinations as a pilot -- Lake Toba, Labuan Bajo, Mandalika and Borobudur.
Nomadic tourism is one of the solutions to overcome the issues posed by the limitations in general attraction of a spot, along with facilities and accessibility. (WDY)
