Number Of Foreign Tourist Arrivals In Bali Up By 23.30 Percent

Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Bali reached 5.02 million during January-October 2017, up 948,917 people or 23.30 percent from 4.07 million during the same period in the previous year.

Of the total, 4.99 million arrived by air planes, and only 29,341 by cruisers, I Gede Nyoman Subadri, head of the central bureau of statistics of Bali, said here, Tuesday.

Bali has set a target of attracting 5.5 million foreign tourists in 2017, up from 4.2 million foreign tourists visiting the world's most famous tourist island last year.

In October 2017, the number of tourist arrivals was 465,085 people, comprising 462,263 tourists arriving in the International I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, and 2,822 people in seaports.

The number of tourist arrivals in October 2017 was up by 7.61 percent from that in October 2016, but down 15.52 percent from that in September 2017.

China contributed 1.28 million tourists during the January-October 2017 period, up 57.06 percent from 820,345 tourists during the same period in 2016.

The number of Japanese tourists also increased by 12.27 percent from 199,443 people during the January-October 2016 to 223,909 people during the January-October this year,
   
The number of Indian tourists also surged by 55.10 percent from  143,454 to 222,516 people; British tourists up 15.39 percent from  185,306 to 213,821; Americans up 18.39 percent from 138,808 to  164,338; French tourists up 10.09 percent from 147,413 to 162,288; Germans tourists up 19.18 percent from 134,168 people to 159,907 people; and South Koreans up 26.77 percent from 124,052 tourists to 157,262 tourists.

Meanwhile, the number of Australian tourists was down by 1.36 percent from 954,957 people to 941,957 during the January-October this year. .

The number of Malaysian tourists also decreased by 0.08 percent from 142,616 people to 142,496 people. (WDY)
