(Antara Bali) - The fermented cocoa products from Jembrana District, Bali,
have received an international certification.
Jembrana Vice Regent, I Made Kembang Hartawan, stated here on
Tuesday that the certificate was issued by the United States Department
of Agriculture (USDA) and European Union (EU) from Control Union.
"The international certificate can be obtained by maintaining the
quality and quantity of cocoa products," he said, adding that good
quality will increase the market`s trust on Jembrana`s cocoa.
Hartawan explained that Jembrana cocoa is produced from organic farming system.
Of 35 Balinese farmers groups in Jembrana District, 16 of them have passed the certification of organic agriculture.
He hoped that the number of farmers who receive the certificates would increase every year. (WDY)
