Legian (Antara Bali) - Some families gathered to sow flowers and lit candles at the Bali Bombing Monument in Legian, Kuta, Badung regency, on Wednesday in remembrance of their members who died in the first Bali bomb attack 14 years ago.
From morning, families and relatives of the victims flocked to the monument bringing flowers and praying to remember the human tragedy.
In addition to the victims' families, a number of tourists who happened to pass the resort stopped to pray and took their pictures with the monument as the background.
Since early in the morning roads to the tourism area were empty and only a few local residents and foreign tourists deliberately made a pilgrimage to the monument.
Meanwhile, security at the site of the Bali Bombing Monument is not too tight with only some security officers seen standing guard at the local police station.
The tragedy October 12, 2002 claimed 202 lives of people from 20 countries around the globe.
Huge explosions in the area of Legian, Kuta, Bali, devastated Sari Club and Paddy's Club at night, leaving more than 350 other people wounded with some of them suffering permanent disability. Isana Dewata Foundation on the same day launched a book called "Widows Victims of Terrorism in Bali". The book launch was attended by various circles of interfaith, community leaders and local government representatives. (WDY)
