Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia's Tourism Ministry will promote tourist destinations across the country through the "Wonderful Indonesia" campaign scheduled to be held at Potters Field in London on May 28 and 29 in a bid to attract foreign visitors, an official has said.

During the promotional event, Indonesia will showcase various cultures, tourist resorts, fashions and culinary skills in an effort to attract foreign visitors to Indonesia, according to Assistant to the Marketing Deputy for Middle East, America and Africa of the Tourism Ministry, Nia Niscaya, on Wednesday.

Ten tourist destinations, apart from Bali, which will be promoted in the promotion event are Lake Toba in North Sumatra, Tanjung Kelayang in Bangka Belitung, Tanjung Lesung in Banten, Kepulauan Seribu (Thousand Islands) in Jakarta, Borobudur in Central Java, Bromo - Tengger - Semeru in East Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Wakatobi in South East Sulawesi, and Morotai in North Maluku.

In addition, other places of interest to be promoted on the occasion are Yogyakarta, Solo, and Semarang (Joglosemar) besides Banyuwangi in the East.

The promotional event has been undertaken by the Indonesian community in London and facilitated by the Tourism Ministry.

Potters Field is a 6,200 square meter park located near the Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

Around 70 Londoners who normally visit the Potter Fields at the weekends are expected to look at the "Wonderful Indonesia" event, Niscaya pointed out, adding that Britain is a target market for Indonesian tourism.

The Tourism Ministry showed that around 1,000 European tourists from England, the Netherlands, Germany and France, besides Russia, visited Indonesia last year.

The number of foreign tourists from neighboring countries surpassed the number of European tourists, she noted.
