Surabaya, E Java (Antara Bali) - The Surabaya city government is providing psychological counseling to former members of the Fajar Nusantara Movement (Gafatar) from the city to see if they suffer psychological disorder.
"We are preparing it. What is clear, we are cross-checking the existing data with the sub-district demography offices to see who are the natives of Surabaya city. Only the natives of Surabaya city will receive psychological counseling." secretary of the Surabaya city government Hendro Gunawan said here on Sunday.
Basically, the city government is prepared to accommodate all former Gafatar members from Surabaya after they have been sent home from Pontianak, West Kalimantan.
At least two civil servants of the Surabaya city government were found to have joined Gafatar.
Head of the Surabaya National Unity and Community Protection Agency (Bakesbanglinmas) Soemarno confirmed last Thursday the two personnel of the city government joining the movement.
Soemarno said last Wednesday some employees of the city administration were found to have joined Al-Qiyadah which allegedly has evolved into Gatafar in 2014 through the technical executive unit of the Surabaya city government.
Gafatar was launched at the JIEXPO Building in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on January 21, 2012 in an effort to confirm that the organization led by Mahful M. Tumanurung exists.
The development has since caused public unrest following the disappearance of several people who were believed to have joined the organization. (WDY)
