Jakarta (Antara Bali)- Indonesia and Iran will realize cooperation in the field of energy, according to Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said.

"I just reported to the president about the results of my visit to Iran," Minister Said noted here, Monday.

In the field of gas, Pertamina and its Iranian counterpart have been holding detailed discussions regarding Pertamina's needs and what Iran could supply, he added.

The oil and gas companies also discussed cooperation, among other areas, in a plan to develop refineries, crude oil supply, and LPG.

He also added that Indonesia would gain knowledge from Iran about the development of hydro energy plants.

Said revealed he had spoken to the Iranian energy minister and oil minister about establishing hydro energy cooperation. The two countries agreed to study the potential of hydro energy in Indonesia.

"I conveyed Indonesia's interest in participating in the upstream (industry) to the Iranian president as their upstream is quite strong. Later, if we could be given concessions there, I think it would be very good," he noted. (WDY)
