TOMOHON RESIDENTS URGED TO SUPPORT INT'L FLOWER FESTIVAL

Tomohon, N Sulawesi (Antara Bali) - Tomohon city official Truusje Kaunang has urged the local community to help in making the upcoming "Tomohon International Flower Festival" (TIFF) in August a success.

"All regional task force units, private parties, and the local community should work together to maintain security for the successful implementation of the international flower festival," Kaunang said on Saturday.

The mountain city of Tomohon in North Sulawesi will again host the international flower festival in August when the city springs into full bloom with flowers of varied colors, shapes, and sizes.

 She noted that the people of every nearby village should help spearhead the success of the  international event for the boosting the city¿s development.

"The government cannot work alone or do this without the support of the public and private parties," she remarked.

Kaunang further encouraged all members of the public in Tomohon to participate in maintaining security and environmental sustainability to provide a comfortable space for tourists, who will be arriving in the city to take part in the festival.

According to her, the international event will certainly attract many domestic and foreign tourists to Tomohon and will have a positive impact on the local economy, as well as on public welfare.

"Besides promoting Tomohon city and its beautiful flowers as its icon, the international flower festival 2015 would also have a significant impact on improving the local economy and welfare," she affirmed.

She noted that the Tomohon International Flower Festival needs to be aggressively promoted in order to be known all over the world like the Pasadena Rose Parade, which is held every year in California, United States.

In the meantime, Tomohon City Tourism Office spokesman Gerardus H Mogi said the city¿s tourism potential will continue to be promoted through the annual international flower festival.

"Preparation for the festival is underway, because it figures on our annual agenda and helps boost tourism promotion momentum in this area," Gerardus said.

He expressed optimism about the intensive promotion of the tourism sector in Tomohon opening up space for more foreign tourists to visit multiple tourist attractions in the city. (WDY)
