Kendari, SE Sulawesi (Antara Bali) - Southeast Sulawesi will host the commemoration of the international forest day on March 21, 2015, head of Southeast Sulawesi's provincial forest office, Hendro, said here Wednesday.
There will be tree planting in a number of school grounds during the event, especially those located in Kendari city.
"We have prepared ten thousands of various tree seedlings," Hendro said.
In addition, the committee of the commemoration will also hold a re-greening program for the forest areas that have been destroyed by illegal logging.
"The forest areas that will be re-greened covers a number of districts in the province," Hendro said, adding that one of the forest areas is Murhum forest that is located in Mount Nipa-nipa and Mount Nanga-nanga in Kendari city.
In these two areas people clear the lands for new settlements and plantations. (WDY)
