Jakarta (Antara Bali) - An Indonesian citizen named Ninik Yuliani is believed to be one
of the passengers of Malaysian Airlines MH-17 plane that crashed in the
border between Ukraine and Russia on Thursday night.
It was reported the plane was believed to have been shot down on its way from Amsterdam in the Netherlands to Kuala Lumpur.
Ninik Yulianis older sister, Yuriah Tansil, confirmed to a private television station on Friday night that her sister was on the plane.
"Her son called my son telling that her mother was on the plane that crashed. He called while crying," Yuriah Tansil said on the phone to Metro TV.
Yuriah said Ninik worked in Amsterdam and wished to visit Indonesia on the occasion of post-fasting holiday.
Foreign minister Marty Natalegawa has asked Indonesian ambassadors in The Hague and Kuala Lumpur to immediately confirm if Indonesians were among the passengers of the ill-fated plane.
