Padang (Antara Bali) - The Justice and Human Rights Ministry will intensify the rehabilitation program for drug users who are not drug traffickers.
"In 2013, we are focusing on rehabilitating drug users or addicts," Justice and Human Rights Minister Amir Syamsuddin said here on Saturday.
In line with the Law No. 35/2009 on narcotic drugs, drug users should be rehabilitated not be put in jail, he said.
"The justice and human rights ministry will carry out the rehabilitation program in cooperation with the health ministry," he stated.
He suggested that every hospital to have a special unit for drug addiction rehabilitation. Currently, the number of rehabilitation centers is very limited while the centers are crowded with drug users, he added. (*/DWA)
