Pekanbaru (Antara Bali) - Floods inundated hundred residents' houses in Bagan Batu Sub-district, Rokan Hilir District, Riau Province, following two days of raining.

"The two day raining has caused flooding in our homeland with the water level reaching up to 80 centimeters high starting on  Wednesday. The flood was also caused by too shallow water way to drain the water to the river, " local resident Hikmat said in an  interview by phone from Pekanbaru here on Thursday.

He said the height of water level was coming to adult knees at that moment. Most residents have refused to move up to camps for fear their furniture, electronics and other equipments would be stolen.

The first flood submerging all over the area shocked residents and made them to demand the local government in Rokan Hilir District to give more attention to it. (IGT)
