Garut (Antara Bali) - Dozens of houses at Tarogong village in West Java's Garut district on Saturday evening were inundated by flood water after Ciojar River's embankment collapsed.
"The river embankment collapsed on Saturday evening and flood water inundated several homes at Tarogong Kolot village," said spokesman of the Tarogong village administration Rahmat here Sunday.
He said at least 50 families were affected by the flood as they lived near the river.
The flood also submerged a graveyard and hectares of farmland and inundated the Garut Single Administration (Samsat) office at an average height of 50 centimeters.
"There is no report of casualties. The flood has only inflicted material losses," Rahmat said.
He said the flood carrying mud, sand and garbage began to recede early on Sunday.
By Sunday afternoon several streets in Garut were still covered by mud and garbage and local residents were busy cleaning their houses. (*/DWA)
