Denpasar, Bali (Antara Bali) - Bali's exports of furniture fell 15.23 percent in value to US$34.8 million in 2012 from US$41.07 million in the previous year despite an increase in volume as a result of slump in international markets especially in Europe.
The export volume rose from 2.94 million units in 2011 to 9.99 million units in 2012, the head of the public relations division of the Bali provincial administration, I Ketut Teneng said here on Saturday.
Ketut Teneng said furniture is one of 14 types of handicraft products exported from Bali to various countries in the world.
Other major handicraft export commodities form Bali include plaited materials, bamboo, granite, ceramic, shell and leather goods.
He said furniture exports contributed 7.23 percent to the Bali's total export earning of US$481.83 million in 2012. (*/ADT)
