Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) will decide the number of electoral districts for the General Elections 2014 on March 7, 2013, the commission's Commissioner Sigit Pamungkas said here.

"On March 3,4, and 5, we will invite all provincial KPUs to make presentation on districts and city electorates, and on March 7, we will fix the number of the electoral districts," he said.

KPU will also hold a consultative meeting on the electoral districts with political parties which will participate in the general elections 2014.

Another KPU Commissioner Ferry Kurnia said the number of the electoral districts of the elections 2014 will not be too different from that in 2009.

However, two factors might change the number, namely the allocation of more than 12 seats for legislators and the establishment of new districts.

The home affairs ministry recently issued laws on the establishment of 12 new autonomous regions, but they will still be integrated with their previous administrations for temporary. (*/DWA/IGT)
