Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, has urged the people of Jakarta to maintain religious tolerance and harmony.
"We should work hard to maintain religious tolerance and harmony," said Jokowi at a Christmas party, organised by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), at the Taman Ismail Marzuki Art Centre on Sunday.
Many people were eager to listen to the governor's speech. In his speech, the governor expressed hope that freedom of religion will continue to prevail in the country.
Present at the Christmas party were PDIP Secretary General Cahyo Kumolo, general treasurer and the event committee's chairman, Olly Dondokambey, and other cadres, including Ribka Ciptaning, Marwar Sirait and Mindo Sianipar.
However, the party's general chairperson, Megawati Soekarnoputri, who was supposed to be present at the party, was nowhere in sight. (*/DWA/T007)
