Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Former health minister Soewardjono Soerjaningrat (1978 - 1988), who was also main supporter of Indonesia's family planning program, passed away here on Tuesday evening.
"The mortal remains of the former health minister is laid in state in the mourning house in Jalan Jupiter Raya No. 26. Villa Cenere Mas," dr Tubagus Rahmat Santika, expert staff of the chief people's welfare minister, said in written statement on Tuesday night.
Rahmat Santika said Soewardjono passed away at the ICU room of Puri Cenere Hospital in Depok, West Java, at about 7 pm on Tuesday.
He said that the former health minister would, according to plan, be buried at the Kalibat Heroes Cemetery on Wednesday.
Seowardjono served as health minister for two period (1978-1988) during the era of former president Soeharto, replacing GA Siwabessy (1966 -1978). He was succeeded by Adhyatma (1988- 1993).(IGT)
