Taufiq Kiemas Passes Away

Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Taufiq Kiemas, the chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), passed away at a hospital in Singapore on Saturday evening.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Any Yudhoyono expressed deep condolences over the demise of the husband of former President Megawati Soekarnoputri.

"The President was informed about the death of MPR chairman Taufiq Kiemas at around 6pm Singapore time and on his behalf and the state he had expressed deep condolences over it," presidential spokesman Yulian Aldrin Pasha said to Antara. (M038)
