Jakrarta (Antara Bali) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, at a limited cabinet meeting here on Friday, emphasized the importance of domestic trade amidst the global economic crisis.
"Our economic-related strategy and policy is not only export oriented, since domestic trade also has a very important role," the president noted.
President Yudhoyono pointed out that in the midst of the global economic crisis, domestic trade has an important contribution to make to the nation's economic growth.
"Domestic trade in a country like ours, with extensive geographic areas and a large population, must not be ignored, while efforts to increase exports should continue to be made," he said.
The president was of the opinion that an industrial community was important to move ahead Indonesia's significant efforts toward becoming a developed nation in the 21st century.(DWA)
