Batam (Antara Bali) - Adjunct Senior Commissioner Mindo Tampubolon had been acquitted in the murder case of Putri Mega Umboh at the Batam District Court, Riau Islands, on Thursday, although the public prosecutor demanded life in prison on the defendant.
The council of judges comprising Reno Listowo, Riska and Ridwan, in their verdict believed that on the basis of witnesses and facts during the court session, Mindo, head of special crime of the Riau Islands Police Office (now non-active) has not been proven guilty of murdering Putri Mega Umboh, his wife.
"The defendant has not been proven guilty and exempted from all charges and demands from the public prosecutor," Reno Listowo told the court.
The court said during the sessions non of the witnesses made incriminating statements.
The public prosecutor said it will file an appeal to the Riau Islands High Court.(IGT)
