Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesia is to host a "Celebrate the Ocean Festival 2011" at the Sintesa Peninsula Hotel in Manado, North Sulawesi province, next September 23-25.

The culture and tourism ministry's director general of marketing, Sapta Nirwandar, said here on Wednesday "Celebrate the Ocean Festival 2011" would consist of  various activities, namely an ocean conservation forum, photo and film presentations, an international underwater photo competition, an art competition and a seminar with international figures as keynote speakers.

"The event will be participated in by 25 countries. It is considered as the biggest ocean-themed competition in the Asia Pacific region," Sapta said.

He said the festival would be the best event to promote maritime conservation and tourism. He added the festival would also promote Indonesia's beautiful oceans to the international world.(*)
